How to find the owner of a car blocking yours in a housing society
Blocked-car disputes are among the most common complaints in apartment complexes. The goal is to reach the owner fast without starting a fight or sharing anyone's number publicly.
Start with the guard
Security guards usually know which flat a car belongs to, or can check the visitor and resident vehicle register. Give them the car number and ask them to call the flat.
Use the resident group carefully
- Post only the car make, colour and number, not your own phone number.
- Ask the owner to reply or call the guard.
- Avoid naming or blaming anyone in the group.
What RWAs can do so this stops happening
- Mark numbered parking slots and share the rule on the notice board.
- Keep a resident vehicle list with the guard, with flat numbers.
- Give every car a QR sticker so anyone can reach the owner directly, without circulating phone numbers.
Why a QR sticker works in a society
With a DotLink sticker on the windscreen, anyone blocked can scan it and call or message the owner straight away. Nobody has to dig through WhatsApp groups at midnight, and no phone numbers are shared. Each resident's first vehicle is free, so a pilot costs the society nothing.
